Incredible Story from the Sidewalk!

Last week, a very exciting thing happened outside of West Alabama Women’s Center, Tuscaloosa’s abortion site. God arranged for two special people to meet. Please read, and be inspired, by this incredible story.

A young lady named Jalissa, and her toddler daughter, drove over from Mississippi to bring a friend who was considering abortion to Choices Pregnancy Center where she could receive help for her unplanned pregnancy. That day, several sidewalk advocates were offering help outside of West Alabama Women’s Center. On a whim, Jalissa came over from Choices to talk with them, where she soon met (by God’s wonderful providence), her own lifesaver, Dr. Neil Sullivan.

Twenty-two years ago, Neil Sullivan and Jack Kubiszyn used to go and pray on the sidewalk outside of West Alabama Women’s Center every Saturday morning. At that time, no one else came to the sidewalk but them. About a year ago, Jalissa’s mom told her that 22 years ago she had gone to West Alabama Women’s Center to abort her baby and that two men were sitting at the abortion clinic sidewalk, praying. Jalissa’s mom walked up to them and they talked to her briefly. The baby she was planning to abort that day was Jalissa. By the grace of God, that day, Jalissa’s mom chose life.

As we talked to Jalissa about that fateful day and listened to her story, a man who had not been to the sidewalk for over a year and a half walked up. It was Dr. Neil Sullivan, the man God used to speak LIFE to her mom those 22 years before. We asked her if she would like to meet the man who probably save her life. After recounting the story and dates, Neil said it had to be him and Jack who spoke to her mom. Neil told her he went out every Saturday when he was a full time doctor and had no spare time. They came to realized that God had used these two men to save two generations, one in 1996 (Jalissa) and one in 2017 (her daughter). Neil said, “I am going to make sure my family knows this because back then they didn’t like me using the little spare time I had to come out to the mill. Maybe now they will understand how important it was for someone to be at the abortion mill.”

It’s not often we get to hear an abortion survivor’s thoughts. Jalissa is just now coming to grips that she was almost killed by her mother. She said that she loves life & is glad to be alive. She has graduated from college and is a proud mom of a beautiful little girl. She kept telling us how very thankful she was for her life. Jalissa realizes how precious life is and how close she was to never being born.

We are thankful that Choices is there to help women who have unplanned pregnancies. Please pray for Jalissa’s friend, that she will choose LIFE for her child, and that another precious life will enter this world in 2019.

So today, we celebrate Jalissa and her daughter’s lives. We rejoice that her mother chose LIFE for her child. We praise God for his perfect timing and wonderful providence in bringing Jalissa and Dr. Sullivan together. We are thankful for the men and women who give of their time & resources to take a stand for LIFE in Tuscaloosa. Please consider joining us. It’s so important to be on the sidewalk; to be a representative for LIFE. You can go pray, read scripture, hold a helpful sign, or just be a friendly face offering help. There are unlimited ways to get involved. Would your feeble efforts make a difference? God can take anyone’s willingness to obey and turn it into a miracle, just ask Dr. Neil Sullivan and Jalissa.
